LONDON: South African cricket chief Ali Bacher and West Indies' manager Clive Lloyd flew into London today with a letter from Nelson Mandela to resolve the crisis threatening the first West Indian tour to the Republic.

Bacher will deliver the message from Mandela at a meeting with rebel West Indian players who have refused to join the tour because of a pay dispute.

Meanwhile, Grenada's Prime Minister Keith Mitchell is also likely to attempt in the mediation. Caribbean community chairman Kenny Anthony, who is also Prime Minister of St Lucia, said yesterday Mitchell would work with Antigua's Prime Minister Lester Bird to try to resolve the crisis.
