Humpy had won the under-10 world championship last year. She is the first Indian to have two world titles. Tania Sachdev also of India won the bronze medal in the same category after a draw with Humpy.

After the tournament she said her most difficult moment here was when she lost to T Kosinteva. Her immediate goal is to become the International Woman Master (IWM). She has won five national titles so far. Humpy won all her games after her sixth-round loss and drew last game with Tania Sachdev.

Prakash prevails

SURAT: GB Prakash of Bank Sports Board (BSB) won the National `B' chess championship played at the Experimental School scoring ten points from thirteen rounds in the event which ended here today.

Other top players on the first four board drewtheir matches. Fifteen players had scored 9.5 points at the end of the 13th round in which thirteen players including Prakash have been selected for the National `A' chess tournament.
