CHANDIGARH, Nov 6: Following an attack on two brothers, both residents of Panchkula on Thursday afternoon, the City police have registered a case of attempt to murder and arrested all four accused including the son of a PCS officer residing in SAS Nagar.As the kirpan allegedly used for attacking and injuring Sunil and Akshay Malik was yet to be recovered, Mandeep Singh and Khushbal Singh Jatana, son of a PCS officer residing in SAS Nagar, were remanded to police custody till November 7 by UT Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate B.C. Gupta today.
The co-accused, Devinder Singh and Parkash Singh Rubal, were, meanwhile, remanded to judicial custody till November 20 as "no weapon was to be recovered".
They were earlier booked by the Chandigarh Police under Section 307, 324 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. On Thursday morning, Sunil Malik's arm was slashed with a sword, while his brother Akshay Kumar sustained head injuries after they were allegedly attacked by the four outside a bank in Sector 7.
The provocation for the attack is yet to be ascertained.
While one of the accused, Mandeep Singh, was nabbed by the mob and later handed over to the police, the others involved in the incident were apprehended today, police said.
