Torchlight procession
Riot police descended on the premises of Maulana Azad Medical College on Friday evening to thwart a torchlight procession planned by the interns and student members of the Delhi Medical Students Union (DEMSU).According to the DEMSU executive member Gagan Gautam, the police let the protesting members take out the procession only after the members threatened to court arrest. Similar processions have also been reported from the other medical colleges in the Capital.
SFI call for one-day strike
The one-day all India students' convention, organised by the Students Federation of India, today decided to give a call for nationwide strike on December 11, to protest against communalisation and commercialisation of education by the BJP-led government at the centre.
