State Minister's son attacked

SANGLI, Nov 7: Satyajeet, the 22-year-old son of State Minister Shivaji Naik, was attacked with swords by two men in his hometown Sangli last evening.

Satyajeet sustained head and shoulder injuries when he accosted the men drinking alcohol in his jeep, who refused to get down until they finished. The incident was reported to have taken place outside the Shivaji Stadium, in the busy Gaon Bhag area of Sangli. Sangli police later arrested the men, Bandopant Dadge and Vijaysinh Mane. Satyajeet sustained injuries on head and shoulders and was rushed to a nearby hospital, it was stated. The incident involving the minister's son, has once again exposed the crime rate in the twin town which has remained high, as compared to other western Maharashtra districts.
