NAGPUR, NOV 8: In a rather strange incident, a local beauty parlour owner has claimed that she was kidnapped by her ``estranged'' husband and an aide, kept illegally confined in a house in New Delhi and robbed of cash and expensive clothing worth Rs 27,000.Shehnaz Begum Shahid, who runs the Shehnaz Beauty Parlour at Golchcha lane in the posh Sadar area, lodged a complaint with the Sadar police that her ``estranged'' husband and a relative barged into her parlour around 4 pm on October 21 and forced her to accompany them all the way to New Delhi. While leaving the premises, the duo collected cash Rs 12,500 from the counter and expensive sarees worth Rs 15,000 from a cupboard, she stated.
After forcing her to sign certain documents in New Delhi, the two started their journey back to Nagpur with Shehnaz in tow but the latter managed to give them the slip at the Katol railway station to reach here on her own, she added.
Although the police have taken cognizance of her plaint, they have come across severaldiscrepancies in the account of kidnapping given by Shehnaz. For one, she has claimed that she had a divorce with her husband, Shahid Ahmed Babu Ahmed, five months ago but the police findings suggest a case otherwise.
Nevertheless, the police have registered an offence of abduction, illegal confinement, theft and common motive against Shahid and Mohammad Raja following Shehnaz's complaint.
