Custom, Excise officers' strike from tomorrow
The Customs and Central Excise Executive Officers Association has decided to go on three-day nation-wide strike from Tuesday in protest against the recommendation of the Fifth Pay Commission.

150 examined at eye camp
More than 150 patients suffering from eye ailments were examined today at a five-day mega eye camp which started at Dharamgarh near S.A.S. Nagar. Cataract of 27 patients was removed by a qualified team of doctors led by eye-specialist Dr Jai Singh of Phase VI Civil Hospital of the township. Free medicines, refreshments and spectacles were provided by the Mohali Rotary Club. Club president and secretary Parwinder Singh and Manpreet Singh assured that such camps including a dental camp will be held on November 14 in the Civil Hospital, S.A.S. Nagar.

Kite-flying contest
A colourful inter-house kite flying and kite decoration competition was organised at Government model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35, yesterday. Varinder Kaur of Tarangiri House bagged the first prize in kite decoration, Aseem of Neelgiri House won the second prize and Manish of Udaigiri House got the third prize. Gurpreet, Rajavir and Jatinder Pal of Udaigiri House bagged all three prizes in kite flying competition.

Annual function
The students of Spring Dales Public School, S.A.S. Nagar, organised cultural programmes at the annual prize distribution function of the school yesterday. PSIEC Managing Director Narinder Singh stressed upon the need to encourage Punjabi culture in children by involving them in dance, music and other event based on the theme of history of Punjab.
