Crime Watch -- Surat

3 workers beat factory watchman
Three people, all labourers employed in a dyeing unit, beat up the watchman of the same company late on Saturday night and escaped from the scene, a case registered in the Sachin police station said. According to Pramod Sharma's complaint, the accused beat him up when he objected to their going out to drink tea. The Umra police have registered a case under sections 323, 324 and 114 of the IPC as well as section 135 of the BPA.

Burgled
Unidentified people burgled a house located at Ganeshpura Housing Board on Saturday night and fled with cash and valuables worth Rs 45,000, the police said. According to a complaint filed by Chudabhai Desai, thieves broke into his room no 18/84 in the housing society after breaking the rear door's latch and stole Rs 5,000 in cash and gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 40,000. The Katargam police have registered a case of house-breaking and are investigating.

Cheating
The Rander police have registered a case of cheating, extortion and impersonating a public servant against one Ravindra Madanlal Sharma, who allegedly took Rs 2,500 from a person claiming that he was a CBI official. Mukesh Patel, the owner of a phone booth, complained to the Rander police that Sharma, a resident of Tadwadi area, approached him on Saturday wearing a CBI badge and said that the phone booth was illegal. The complainant also said that the accused forcibly took Rs 2,500 from him and left. A case under sections 170, 384 and 420 of the IPC has been registered.
