Arun Tuli steers Godrej Club to victory

CHANDIGARH, Nov 8: An all-round performance by Arun Tuli (42 not out and 3 for 22) helped Godrej Cricket Club score a seven-wicket win over CNS XI to enter the final of the JAL Cup league cricket tournament held at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium today.

CNS XI batsmen were unable to face hostile bowling by Arun Tuli and Vinod Binta. Both the bowlers kept the rival batsmen on a tight leash and accounted for three wickets each. CNS XI was back to the pavilion after a paltry score of 107 in the allotted 30 overs.

In reply Godrej CC got the winning total in 18th over, losing three wickets only.

Arun Tuli's unbeaten knock of 42 runs which included six boundaries helped the team to gain victory. RP Singh (32) and Rajesh Patha (29) also contributed to the total.

Brief Scores: CNS XI 107 in 30 overs (Viresh Sharda 27, Atul Kapoor 19, Rakesh Verma 17, Vinod Binta 3 for 15, Arun Tuli 3 for 22, Rajesh Arora 2 for 19); Godrej CC: 108 for 3 in 17.4 overs (Arun Tuli 42 n.o., RP Singh 32, Rajesh Patha 29, Ajay Sikka 2 for 22).

GHS-32 win
Government High School-32 beat Govt High School-45 by 20 points and one inning in the girls under-17 category in theChandigarh State Inter-School kho-kho tournament held yesterday at SGGS School in Sector 35.

In another match SGGS-35 defeated Govt High School-35 by 10-9.

In the under-14 section, Govt High School-31 outplayed GHP School-38 by 10-1.

Govt High School-38 scored 8-5 victory over GHS-35, to enter the next round.
