Commuter falls off Virar local

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, November 9: A passenger was injured when he fell off a Virar-bound local near Mahim on Sunday night.

Ashok Ravindranath Sarkar (25), a resident of Bhayander, was on his way home from Dadar at 10.15 pm, travelling on the footboard when he felt dizzy and fell off the train just as it left Mahim station. Sarkar was lucky enough to have fallen between the tracks even as the train just started gaining speed, said the railway police.

Injured on his head, Sarkar got up from the tracks and hailed a taxi to Bhabha Hospital nearby where he was administered first-aid. Subsequently, he was shifted to KEM Hospital at Lower Parel where he is recuperating now.
