CHANDIGARH, Nov 9: Government Girls Senior Secondary School-8 thrashed Dev Samaj School-21, 38-13, to reach the semifinal of the girls under-19 section in the Chandigarh State Inter-School basketball tournament at Shivalik Public School-41 here today.In an one-sided encounter, Hemalata with 22 points led the GSSS-8 attack. She was simply unstoppable. Vandana also sunk 8 points for the winners.
In the other semifinal, Government Girls Senior Secondary School-8 combined to score a 32-6 win over a hapless Guru Nanak Public School-36. They will now lock horns with GGSSS-8 in the finals tomorrow.
Earlier, GNP-36 beat GMSSS-19 by a margin of 18-0 in the quarter-final and will fight with Dev Samaj-21 for third position. Navjeet and Ramanjit got six points each for GNP-36 in the quarters.
