LUCKNOW, Nov 11: Even as India and Pakistan continue their talks in the capital, Union Home Minister L K Advani today lashed out at what he called Pakistan's attempt to spread ``anarchy and instability'' all over the country. Calling Pakistan a ``terrorist state,'' he said that states would have to enact their own laws to deal with the activities of Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI.He claimed that ``since the very beginning'' ISI's activities had not been tackled the way they should have been. After the 1971 war, he claimed, the ISI decided to increase its activities in the country. Earlier, it was limited to Punjab, he said, and gradually its operations spread to Jammu and Kashmir and now it had ``covered the entire nation.''
In this connection, he mentioned Romesh Sharma. ``Sharma, who has links with Dawood Ibrahim and the ISI was operating smoothly till recently and established contacts with even senior politicians,'' he said. This showed, he claimed, how soft the country had become.
Advani saidthat the CBI director had been asked to find out the names of those who had links with Sharma as these posed a threat to the ``security of the country.''
The Home Minister, who was here to address a party meeting, said there was a law called TADA to deal with such activities but the states allowed it to lapse. As law-and-order problem is a state subject under the Constitution, the Centre had no plan to enact any law, he said. Advani reiterated that a White Paper on the ISI would be tabled in the coming session.
