CHENNAI, NOV 11: There was better understanding and purpose in the Sri Lankan attack but this was not good enough to stop the Indians who recorded their second win, by the same 4-0 margin to take a 2-0 lead in the three-Test hockey series, at the Mayor Radhakrishnan stadium here on Wednesday. The Indians started off on a bright note scoring the first goal in the very first minute. Baljit Singh Chandi in a jiffy darted down the centre but was checked by the rival custodian D C Perera. Saurabh Bishnoi's direct hit brooked no answer from the rival defence.
India's Harbhajan Singh proved to be a fine opportunist, scoring the second and third goals. Amar Ayamma failed to connect from close range but Harbhajan Singh, positioned next to him, grabbed the opportunity to push home in the third minute.
The ball went in off custodian Perera's pads.
Harbhajan's second goal came ten minutes from close. Dinesh's long clearance from almost the centre line was relayed to Harbhajan from Ayamma and the former scored(3-0).
The last Test will be played in Hyderabad on Nov 13.
