Elliott stars in Crompton win

NEW DELHI, November 11: Crompton Greaves and ABN Amro Bank-1 entered the semifinals of Jack Daniel's Maharaja Hari Singh Memorial Cup (14 goals), beating ABN Amro Bank-2 and Jodhpur, respectively, at Jaipur Polo grounds here today. Crompton Greaves won 12-4 while ABN Amro Bank-1 scored a 12-8 1/2 triumph. Philip Elliott scored six goals for Crompton Greaves while Howard Hipwood (3), Karan Thapar (2) and Bala Mallaya were the other scorers. ABN Amro Bank started with a four goals on handicap but despite their best efforts could not add any goal.In the other quarterfinal, ABN Amro Bank-1 conceded a 1 1/2 goals to Jodhpur on handicap but led 5-4 1/2 at half time and trailed 6-7 1/2 at the end of the third chukker. The last chukker was disastrous for Jodhpur while ABN Amro bank scored six quick goals. Dhruvpal Godara scored six goals, Manupal Godara and Angad Kalaan three each for the winners. Ramiro Garros, a six-goal player from Argentina, scored four goals, followed by one each from Jaisal Singh, Vishal Singh and Nikhlendra Singh for Jodhpur, who started the game with 1 1/2 goal on handicap.
