LONDON, NOV 12: Britain's highest court finished hearing arguments today over whether the London arrest of former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet was legal.Lord Slynn, chief of a five-judge panel in the House of Lords, said the judgement would be reported to the full House ``in due course''. Pinochet, 82, was arrested in his hospital bed in London on October 16 at the request of a Spanish judge who wants to extradite the general to Madrid to face charges of torture and genocide.
The Law Lords heard two-and-a-half hours of argument this morning, winding up their six-day hearing.
Legal experts think it will take the Lords days or even weeks to announce their ruling. Pinochet is waiting for the outcome while under police guard in a London hospital.
