Dismissal of govt sought

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, Nov 12: K M Khan, member of Parliament from Andhra Pradesh and chairman of the social organisation All India Minorities' Forum, has demanded the dismissal of the Gujarat government, which he alleged, had failed to protect the minorities.

Briefing local reporters here on Thursday, Khan, who is also chairman of the Asian Co-ordination Committee on Palestine, said that he had collected first-hand information from the Christian victims of the October 29 assault by activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal. ``I will submit my report to the AICC and demand action against the Gujarat government'', he said.

Claiming that the law and order situation in Gujarat was worse than that of Tamil Nadu or Bihar, he said the official machinery here had collapsed. ``It is ironical that no senior politician or minister from Gandhinagar has even bothered to visit the aggrieved minorities at Vadodara'', he said, alleging that he had also been informed that the official machinery was being used by BJP government to ``terrorise'' minorities.

``It was acting as a tool of the Bajrang Dal and the VHP'', Khan alleged citing various incidents in which no accused had been arrested.

``I have collected reports about 42 incidents of a communal nature which have taken place in Gujarat during the eight months of BJP rule and I, along with other MPs, will rock the Parliament over them in the next session'', he threatened. He added that it was only the Congress in the Gujarat which had raised its voice against the BJP ``misrule'' from time to time.
