PUNE, Nov 12: Tanay Sarpotdar and Mandhar Urshekar of SP College scored four fine runs each to beat Ness Wadia 27-7 in the boys section, while Nutan Marathi Vidyalay HS (NMV) also registered a comprehensive 20-5 win over Sharadhabai Pawar HS (Baramati) in the Inter-School Softball Championship organised by Poona District Multi Games Sports Council (PDMGSC) at BMCC ground here today.The softball finals were witnessed only by a handful of spectators, with only the officials and participants being seen seen on the ground.
SP College won the toss and elected to field. They restricted Ness Wadia to just seven runs in the first innings. Mandhar made some fine collections in the catcher's position, while Tanay with his strong arm gave a rapid pace as the pitcher which made difficult for the Wadians to play the shots.
In the second innings SP College having some prominent players like Tanay, Mandhar and Pranav who have represented Maharashtra state, played a few excellent shots over the Wadians head to the boundary. Mandhar opened the scoreboard with a home run, while Tanay helped his team as he scored three runs. Pranav completed the one home run.
Earlier, SP college defeated defending champions St Vincents in the semi-final 16-9.
In the girls section there were only three teams Sharadhabai Pawar (Baramati), Nutan Marathi Vidyalay (Ramanbaug) and Abhinav Marathi Vidyalay who made it a point to represent their respective schools. In the final encounter NMV had an easy 20-5 win over Sharadhabai Pawar HS even though NMV won the toss. Sharadhabai Pawar were put in to bat first. Shradha Joshi gave her team a fine start by scoring three runs, but later her team collapsed when they were all out in just seven runs.
Shreya Limaye gave a brilliant start as she knocked four runs while Seema Jagtap added three more runs to the board. NMV playing confidently, dominating the game and went home with the winners trophy.

Nutan Marathi Vidyalay: 20 (Shreya Chandrika 8, Seema Jagtap 6) bt Sharadhabai Pawar HS (Baramati) 5 (Shradha Joshi 3).
Boys semi-final:
SP College 16 (Mandhar Urshekar, Tanay Sarpotdar and Pranav Apte 3 each, Siddharth Sharma, Abhijit Kenjale, Sameer Kadu 2 each) bt St Vincents HS 9 (Darshan Parikh, Hufeza Bandukwala 3 each); Ness Wadia 21 (Sameer Master, John Bestowich, Kureshi Poonawala and Eddie 3 each) bt New English School (Ramanbaug) 4 (Yogesh Jagade 2, Sameer Badalkar and Sushil Maske 1).
