"Fake" CID officer takes woman for a ride

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, November 13: A man posing as an officer with the Crime Investigation Department (CID) took a lady commuter for a ride, threw her out of a taxi and fled with her mangalsutra and nearly Rs 200 last evening.

Anurupa Arun Sawant, the wife of a customs constable, was accosted by a man claiming to be a CID officer near Dadar station on Friday evening. He told her that he wanted to interrogate her regarding some cases and asked her to go with him. The duo travelled by train and taxi to Bandra.

Near Mahim, Anurupa was asked to pay the taxi fare. Then he slapped across her face and snatched her chain and Rs 192. She claimed that the man pushed her off the cab and fled, said Superintendent of Police (railways) S Ramachandran.
