Shardashram under-14 champs

Mumbai, Nov 13: Promising wicket keeper batsman Girish Vaswani propped up the Shardashram innings with a fluent 43 to help his team defeat IES English Bandra by 39 runs in the division final of the Multigames inter-school u-14 cricket tournament at Oval Maidan, Sachivalaya today.

The Shardashram team will leave tomorrow for Ratnagiri to represent Mumbai in the state championships.

Coming in to bat when the score was 21-2, Girish Vaswani took charge of the Shardashram innings, and was sixth out at 122 in the 24th over. Three boundaries and one six studded his 45-ball innings. His dismissal sparked off a collapse, as Shardashram were bowled out for 129 in the 26th over.IES were off to a disastrous start, losing three top order batsmen at the score of 13. They never recovered, and their innings folded up at 90.In a quarter-final match for the under-16 Vinoo Mankad Trophy, Antonio De Silva received a walk over from Raje Shivaji IES, who chose to play their Harris Shield match.

Wagle 'tricks Hume

A Brilliant spell of right arm off-spin bowling by Bhavanishankar Wagle helped Swami Vivekanand International, Dahisar score an emphatic nine-wicket win over Hume High School in the third round of the MSSA-Colgate Harris Shield inter-school cricket tournament at Azad Maidan here today.

Bhavanishankar returned awesome figures of 8-3-7-7, including a hat-trick as Hume were skittled out for 64. Two other match-winning all-round performances stood out. Aniket Naik Satam scored 61 and claimed 4-39 to set up a 20-run win for Gokuldham, Goregaon. Mayur Kantak of Vidyamandir, Dahisar did one better: He restricted Wilson to 182-7 with a 4-45 haul, and scored a solid 76 to help his team to a satisfying two-wicket win.

Emphatic win for Bosco

Hosts DonBosco, Matunga opened their campaign in the MSSA-Colgate Inter-school under-14 boys' hockey league with a thumping 14-0 win over Our Lady of Remedy. In another match, Tyron Pereira scored five, including a hat-trick, in St Andrew's A's 7-0 victory over St Elias, Khar.

St Mary's, Dahisar rallied back from a one-game deficit to beat St Anne's, Fort 9-15, 15-5, 15-4 in the first round of the girls' under-12 MSSA-Colgate Inter-school throwball tournament at Azad Maidan today.
