Record turnout, JNU is ready for all-night jamboree

NEW DELHI, Nov 13: The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union (JNUSU) elections witnessed a record voter turnout today. Till 5 pm this evening, 3,028 votes (72 per cent) were polled. A member of the election commission said, ``Some of the students are taking their UPSC exams and are expected back after 6 pm.The voter turnout is expected to go up. Last year, we had only a 65 per cent turn out.'' The counting will begin at 9 pm today and will continue till the wee hours of the morning. The candiatates of various parties along with their supporters will gather near the administrative block. Suryashikha, a M.Phil student said, ``The counting of votes is the best part of JNUSU elections. Food stalls are set up near the counting centre.
