22-year-old man shot dead
Four unidentified men shot dead a Bhoapur villager in Pilkhua, Ghaziabad, while robbing a house at around 1.30 am on Friday. According to the police, the four broke into the house of Omprakash Giri and started beating up the family. When Satish, Giri's 22-year-old son resisted, the assailants shot him in the head at point-blank range and fled with cash and jewellery. Satish died on spot.Man stabbed to death
A man was stabbed to death in Rajouri Gardens on Thursday night after getting into a brawl. According to the police, Sunil (25), a resident of Hari Nagar, was drinking with his friend Babloo Chibber and two others. And the fight ended with the three men allegedly stabbing Sunil and then running away.
Head constable arrested for graft
The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has arrested a head constable for taking a bribe from a travel agent. The police nabbed head constable Daya Nand of the ISBT police post for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 7,800 from Mohan Singh of S.S. Travels.
Rickshaw-puller held for murder
The Civil Lines police have arrested a rickshaw puller on the charges of murder. Neelkanth, alias Anna Madrasi, has been accused of killing a fellow rickshaw puller Ravi. According to the police, the two got into a fight an year ago, and Ravi beat up Neelkanth. Reportedly ever since, Neelkanth had been looking for an opportunity to get even. On July 29-30, it is said when Ravi was sleeping on the pavement at Raj Niwas Marg, Neelkanth first hit him on the head with a stone and then stabbed him in the stomach. Ravi's body was found on the morning of July 30.
