NEW DELHI, Nov 14: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) issued a point-by-point rebuttal of the Congress manifesto today, describing it as an ``amazing compilation of lies and hoaxes'' masquerading as facts and promises. The Congress had ``no moral right'' to seek votes, party General Secretary M Venkaiah Naidu said, because it had not received adequate punishment for ruining the country during its 45-year rule.
Naidu said the Congress was anti-poor and anti-farmer when in power, had encouraged middlemen and given rise to corruption, leading to a series of scams. The economy was ruined during the period and India fell into an external debt trap, he added.
The BJP, he claimed, had provided a clean government with no allegations being made against any of its ministers at the Centre and the states.
