TN govt to sue Jayalalitha
PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
CHENNAI, Nov 18: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Government in Tamil Nadu today said the State Electricity Board (TNEB) would sue All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary J Jayalalitha for defamation, while she sought to turn the tables on the government, by accusing it of using the threat of legal action to stifle Opposition criticism of the government.Continuing their verbal duel over the TNEB, Electricity Minister Arcot Veerasamy said the TNEB would file a defamation case against Jayalalitha, as she had not withdrawn her earlier charge that the government had mortgaged the board's assets to pay workers their wages and bonus arrears. Jayalalitha countered the action by questioning Chief Minister M Karunanidhi's `moral authority' to talk about defamation after what she called attempts in the past to defame her using various means.
