Wife beaten up for dowry
The Mandvi police of the district have registered a case against a man who after beating his wife, demanded Rs 20,000 from her. According to the complaint filed by his wife in the Mandvi police station, the accused, with whom she had recently separated, approached her in Bodha village in Mandvi along with two others, demanded Rs 20,000 and beat her up. The Mandvi police have registered a case against the accused, who resides at Maachhiwad, Nanpura and are investigating.

Road mishap
One Raju Bapa, the driver of a truck (GQC 4339) died when it overturned while taking a turn on the State highway near Sawa village at Kosamba on Tuesday night, the district police said. The Kosamba police have lodged a case under sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and the IPC.

Thefts
Rs 14,000 worth of goods were stolen in separate incidents of theft in the past 24 hours and cases have been registered in the Salabatpura and Chowk Bazaar police stations of the city. Mansukh Bachkaniwala told the Salabatpura police that unidentified people decamped with a tempo containing 8 cartons of printed cloth worth Rs 13,000 that was parked outside Wakhariya Market on Ring Road. The Salabatpura police are investigating the case that took place on Tuesday evening. In another case registered at the Chowk Bazaar police station, a number of bottles of lubricant oil were stolen from the R V Steel showroom located at Sayyedpura Main Road. The police have registered cases under sections 379 and 380 of the IPC, and are investigating.
