Agradneya beat Agnel, in semis

Mumbai, Nov 22: Leading by a solitary point at the end of the third quarter, Agradneya Vyayamshala outscored Fr Agnel Gymkhana 19-7 in the fourth to advance to the mini boys (u-13) semi-final of the XIth Bombay YMCA open basketball tournament, sponsored by Kanara Engineering and United Phosphorus, at Ghatkopar YMCA today.

The two teams were locked in a close battle for supremacy, reflected in the half-time score of 15-15. Siddharth Lele then scored all his ten points in the fourth quarter to shut out Agnel.

Chetana College's Miten Thakker won the individual championship for the third year in the Inter-Collegiate Cycling Competition at the Vallabhai Patel Stadium Worli, today. Of the four events, Thakker reigned supreme in three.

The trials for selecting the Bombay University women's cricket team for the ensuing All-India Inter-University Tournament at Hyderabad from Dec 10 will be held on Nov 27 at 3.00 p.m. at the Indian Gymkhana. Naval Dockyard winNAVAL Dockyard defeated Bandra Packers 2-0 in an MDFA Harwood League tie at Xavier'sGround, Parel today. Lancer Mendonca put Dockyard ahead in the fifth minute, while Darryl Rasquinha made it 2-0.
