Goa faith-vote fixed for 26thPANAJI: The State Governor, Lt General (Retd) JFR Jacob has directed Chief Minister Wilfred D'Souza to seek a vote of confidence in his government on November 26. This decision was arrived at a joint meeting between the Chief Minister and his coalition's partners the MGP and BJP on one side and representatives of Congress party, Luizinho Falierio and Dr Dayanand Narvekar on the other.
Taslima surrenders
DHAKA: A Bangladeshi court today granted an anticipatory bail to the controversial writer Taslima Nasreen, facing arrest warrants in a revived case of blasphemy, after she surrendered before the court. After spending four years of exile, Nasreen, wanted by police following an arrest order issued by a magistrate, made a surprise appearance before the High Court.
Fishermen released
NEW DELHI: A batch of 190 Indian fishermen released by Pakistan is expected to arrive in Gujarat by Monday, Defence Ministry sources said on Sunday. The fishermen in 31boats, escorted by a Coast Guard ship Sangram will enter Indian waters on Sunday.
