CHENNAI, NOV 22: Indian Union Muslim League leader A K A Abdus Samad has demanded that searching of Muslim homes, under the pretext of hunting for terrorists, be stopped immediately.``If this practice is not stopped forthwith, we may have to treat this as a very serious issue,'' he said in his address to the party's Chennai district conference today. ``We have already adopted several resolutions on this issue and waited long enough. If there is a terrorist movement, the Central and State Home departments should be aware of it. Moreover, when the authorities claim that all those connected with the Coimbatore blasts have been arrested, whom are they searching for now?'' he asked, adding, ``Innocent Muslims were being harassed by such unjustified searches.''The IUML leader said the State Assembly should pass a resolution urging the Centre to rebuild the Babri Masjid at Ayodhya.
Samad said the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Government at the Centre did not function like a coalition of 18 parties, but rather likethat of 18 governments.
Reservations for minorities, tax increase and price hike were the other issues discussed at the meeting.
