Raids on cement godowns
Civil supply department officials on Sunday conducted raids at the godowns of Larsen and Toubro Cement and Ambuja Cements on the outskirts of the city and seized 800 bags of unaccounted cement. The raids had been conducted following sudden rise in prices of cement from Rs 90 to Rs 135 during the last three days, District Supply Officer Ashok Singh said.Talk today
A talk on `Art and Culture of Rathwas of Chhotaudepur' has been organised jointly by the Museums' Association of Gujarat and the department of Museology on Monday. The illustrated talk will be delivered by Arvind Ghosalkar, Curator and Tribal Research Museum, Gujarat Vidyapith, Ahmedabad, at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M S University.
Urs function
The 407th annual Urs of noted Sufi saint Hazrat Bawaman Shah will be organised on November 28, 29 and 30, according to president of Bawaman Shah Dargah Management Committee Bafati Shah Dewan. A huge procession `sandal' will be taken out on November 28 through Panigate, Mandvi and Wadi which will terminate at the Dargah.
Liquor seized
The city police on Friday seized 74 litres of country liquor worth Rs 1,525 during raids conducted at different places and registered cases against nine under the Prohibition Act.
Essay contest
An essay competition was organised by the Bal Vikas Kendra on Sunday. Participants from various schools expressed their opinion on different topics. Speaking on the occasion, principal of a city-based school Narhari Patel underlined the need to organise such competitions regularly.
