VADODARA, Nov 22: As part of the various literary and cultural programmes organised by ONGC's Hindi Parishad, aimed to promote the use of Hindi language, Daljit Singh, GGM (exploration), inaugurated a Hindi library in the ONGC colony on November 19. In the evening, a kavya sammelan was also organised by the parishad, which was attended by poets and a number of employees and their family members.Cricket Tournament: The Employees' Welfare Committee, ONGC Central Workshop, Vadodara organised an inter-section floodlit cricket tournament at the ONGC pavillion from November 17 to 19. Eight teams from different sections and shops participated in the knock-out tournament. The opening match was inaugurated by B S Talwar, general manager and vice-president of the Regional Sports Council. Sector 2 won the tournament in a close fight with sector 4. While Talwar gave away the prizes to the winners and the runner-up team, K M Brahmbhatt and M K Pathan were declared the man of the match and the man of the series respectively.
Yoga Programme: A four-day training programme on `Stress Management by Yoga' for woman employees of ONGC, Ahmedabad project, was conducted from November 17. The training programme for the first batch of 40 women, organised by the Women Development Forum, Ahmedabad, was inaugurated by chief guest M K Kilam, GGM (p), Ahmedabad project.
Quami Ekta Week: The Quami Ekta Week is being celebrated at ONGC, Vadodara from November 19 to 25. As part of the celebrations, officers and employees of ONGC took a pledge to work with dedication to preserve and strengthen the freedom and integrity of the nation. The pledge was administered in Hindi, English and Gujarati by K G Gupta, GGM (P&A), J B Bhaya, GM (P&A), and N Lal, Executive Director, western region respectively. The week's programme will include talks and discussions on topics such as `Welfare of minorities', Cultural Unity in Diversity,' `Need for Awareness for Environment Conservation,' and `Role of Women in Indian Society and Their Role in Nation-building'.
Bates's Visit: Michael bates, OBE, Deputy High Commissioner visited ONGC's regional office on November 19 and met N Lal. He discussed the possibilities of increasing and strengthening Indo-British trade relations in the region.
