Centre will accord high priority to IT, says Vajpayee
Affirming that his government accords high priority to information technology, Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee has advised professionals and Information Technology (IT) practitioners to devise ways to improve the life of the poor and powerless through IT.

No rethink on APM dismantling
The Government will go ahead with the phased dismantling of administered pricing mechanism (APM) of petroleum products, which is likely to reduce consumer cost by about 25%, and has decided to continue the subsidy on kerosene while keeping the option open on cooking gas (LPG).

SEBI seeks more powers for search, seizures
The market regulator, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is seeking powers for searches and seizures on the lines of other investigating agencies like the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate.
