NEW DELHI, NOV 23: The centre has referred seven more public-sector undertakings (PSUs), including the National Mineral Development Corporation and Paradip Phosphates, to the disinvestment commission."Seven more companies were referred to us few days back, and we would be able to submit the report within two to three months," commission chairman G V Ramakrishna said. The other companies are Mineral Exploration Corpn Ltd, Sponge Iron India Ltd, Hindustan Steel Works Construction, MSTC and Metallurgical and Engineering Consultants. The number of companies under the commission now is 10. Three PSUs were referred to the commission last month, which include MMTC Ltd, State Trading Corporation, and Projects & Equipment Corporation Ltd. The commission has submitted its findings on 43 companies to the government through six reports.
Meanwhile, Ramakrishna has flayed the government for announcing disinvestment programmes of PSUs which were not referred to the commission. Ramakrishna pointed out the case ofIndian Airlines (IA) where the government announced divestment of 51 per cent stake.
