Housewife tortured for dowry
A newly married woman on Monday lodged a police complaint against her husaband and five others of the family for causing physical and mental torture and demanding dowry. A resident of Hinglaj Society in Udhna, Pinal Bharol told the police that her husband Gopal Bharol, mother-in-law Lata Bharol, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and another relative caused physical and mental torture between August 17 and November 23. She had left the in-laws' house and returned to her parents. Pinal stated that the six had threatened to kill her if she did not comply with their demands. The police are investigating the case.

Ends life
Hansa Devsi, 35, a housewife residing in Ghanshyamnagar Society of Varachha area committed suicide on Monday morning, the police said. The victim consumed an insecticide before 6 am. She was found dead by the family members, who reported the matter to the police. The police have registered a case.

Flat burgled
Some unidentified persons broke into a locked flat on Sunday and decamped with cash, gold and other valuables worth Rs 1.45 lakh, the Umra police said. Girish Ramal Bhaya, a resident of Reliance township in Piplod lodged a complaint with the police that some persons had entered his house by breaking open the rear window. Bhaya stated that gold and silver ornaments, along with cash and other goods valued at Rs 1.45 lakh was stolen. The Umra police are investigating the case.
