Tawade shines in MSDBA's victory

Express News Service
Mumbai, Nov 27: Arindam Roy Choudhary's upset win over Rajeev Bagga went in vain as Mumbai Suburban District (MSDBA) prevailed 3-2 over Thane City in the semi-final of the Bristol senior inter-district and Maharashtra State badminton championship at the Dadaji Konddeo Stadium, Thane, today.

The host district claimed both the opening singles in the evening against the experienced Mumbai Suburban side. After Arindam set the ball rolling by defeating Bagga in three games, Nimish Goyal ousted Sanket Shetty 17-15, 15-6. But Thane were denied any further rope as the combined experience of veteran international Leroy D'Sa and Mayur Tawade won the first doubles for MSDBA.

Mayur Tawade then thrashed Bhushan Paithankar 15-1, 15-2 to set up the decider, where Tawade combined well with a recharged Bagga to ensure the Mumbai team's entry into the final.

Greater Mumbai also entered the final, with a facile 3-0 win over Pune.
