VADODARA, Dec 1: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has sought in principle approval of the Standing Committee to lay asphalt concrete roads.In the proposal, which will be taken up for discussion in the Committee meeting on Thursday, the administration stated that although asphalt concrete roads would be costlier than applying a coat of liquid silcot, in it would prove effective as it lasts longer.
The administration has further said that if accepted, the new system would be introduced in the road works to be carried out from now on under the budget for the administrative wards, councillors quota and Entertainment Tax grant.
In a bid for effective co-ordination, the administration has also sought the Committee's approval to give 35 walkie-talkie sets and seven static sets on an experimental basis to officers of various civic departments during four months in the monsoons.
Proposals to increase honorarium of visiting doctors in the VMC dispensaries, laying storm water drain and drainage connections in various parts of the city, laying water pipelines on the TP Roads on a priority basis and making water tank at a cost of Rs 4.24 crore in Sama would be also taken up for discussion.
The administration has also asked to decide whether the work to do central lighting on various main roads of the city should be done on a turn-key basis or carried out departmentally.
