Soon after seven students and teacher were injured on Monday, when a wall of Pratik Tuition Classes located in the dilapidated building in Mandvi collapsed, the VMC had issued a notice to the class owner asking to demolish that portion of the class and get a certificate from the structural engineer.

While Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Administration) H S Patel, in-charge of the department was not in town, Executive Engineer (Buildings) N M Thakore told Express Newsline that even otherwise owners of dilapidated buildings in the city were regularly issued notices to carry out repairs.

Highly placed VMC sources told Express Newsline that it would take a couple of days to issue notices to all tutorials, who have carried out renovations on the first floor.

Sources further said the owners would also be asked to get certificates from the structural engineers.
