Pillion rider killed in collision A pillion rider was killed, when a truck rammed into his scooter on Tuesday morning in the Umra area of the city. According to the police, Hemendra Shah and Nilesh Kothari, both students, were going on a scooter (GJ 9 J 30), when a truck (GJ 5 V 6787) hit them on the road opposite Gandhi college near Umra at 8 am on Tuesday. Nilesh died on the spot, while the truck driver fled the scene. While a case under sections of the IPC and MVA have been registered, no arrests have been made.Suicide One Dhiru Magan Patel, (43), a resident of Ghodiyapeer No Tekro area of Katargam committed suicide by hanging himself on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Katargam police station. Unemployment is said to be the cause behind the extreme step. A case under section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been registered and investigations are on, the police said. Suitcase stolen A suitcase containing clothes and valuables worth Rs 20,000 were stolen by an unidentified person from a ST bus on Tuesday morning. According to complainant Rajnikant Mehta, his sister Kalpanaben was travelling from Surat to Mahuva at around 6 am when someone took her VIP suitcase containing valuables and cash.
