PANAJI, Dec 2: At least 20,000 Catholics from all over Goa held a peaceful rally to protest the attacks on Christians in several parts of the country. The rally was preceded by an eight-kilometre long march from Panaji to Bom Jesus where the body of St Francis Xavier is housed in a mausoleum.The Goa Committee for Protest Against Atrocities on Christians, which organised the rally, later submitted a memorandum to Governor J F R Jacob urging government intervention to curb attacks on Christians.
Chief Minister Luizinho Faleiro later told the press that ....... initiated a signature campaign to protest the attack on Christians. He informed that one lakh signatories will sign the memorandum which would be presented to President K R Narayanan.
