VADODARA, Dec 2: The three-month-long battle of three M.Ed students of M S University finally paid dividends with the University declaring them passed with first class. The students, who had an excellent academic record, had earlier been declared failed, reportedly due to a tussle between the Dean and the head of the Education and Psychology department. The results of the three students -- Earnest, Arpita Chatterjee and B Valli -- were put up on the notice board on Wednesday morning.
Following their representation and newspaper reports, a three-member committee was formed to look into the issue. In its report, the committee members had observed that the results were not entirely above board.
University Vice-Chancellor Anil Kane told Express Newsline that the results were declared late on Tuesday evening and the students had passed with good marks. He said it had taken time to declare the results as two external examiners and several internal examiners had to be brought together.
He also said that the examiners, who were asked why there was a difference in marks given by them, sorted out the problem among themselves.
Reacting to the news, an elated Malhar Earnest -- one of the three students -- said: ``Our efforts have paid off. The VC has kept his word''.
