Seminar held on environment technology

VADODARA, Dec 2: A symposium on `Environment Technology -- Made In Germany' was organised at the Welcom-group Hotel on Monday by the Gujarat Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organisation Ltd (GITCO), Ahmedabad, on behalf of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), Mumbai.

Inaugurating the seminar, Minister Counsellor of German Embassy in India Peer C Stanchina stressed that the environmental technologies used in Germany would prove helpful to Indian companies and non-governmental organisations involved in environment safety activities to effectively control air and water pollution.

He also dwelled on the stringent imposition of environmental laws in Germany.

Chairman of Jyoti Ltd Nanubhai Amin gave a detailed account of the steps being taken by Indian industries in pollution control. He, however, stressed that it was important that implementation of the measures be made faster to save the future generation from disastrous consequences.

Managing Director of GITCO offered the assistance of his organisation to Gujarat-based companies in availing German technologies. Meanwhile, M S University Vice-Chancellor Anil Kane briefly outlined his Kalpasar project.

Representatives of six German-based companies gave their presentations on proven environmental technologies offered by them and also demonstrated some handy instruments for speedily measuring the impact of pollution. Around 100 representatives from leading dyes, chemical, petrochemical, agro processing and pharmaceutical companies as well as the municipal corporation participated in the symposium.
