VADODARA, Dec 3: The student union elections of the M S University, scheduled to be held on December 24, have been postponed following a stay order from the senior division civil judge on Thursday. The stay follows a civil suit filed by a second year student of the Faculty of Commerce Chirag Shah, claiming that students of the Faculty of Technology and Engineering, where admissions were reportedly delayed by four months, were not familiar with the university ways and hence voting would be difficult for them.
Shah has pointed out that students were still to attend classes and were also not acquainted with those contesting the elections.
With the stay order, interested candidates will now be able to file their nomination papers till December 14.
Meanwhile, union leader Janak Mackwana has, in a statement, demanded that the elections be held as per the declared dates.
