Security beefed up in Surat

SURAT, Dec 3: The city police has decided to beef up security, particularly at all important buildings and religious structures as well as communally sensitive areas as a precautionary measure against a possible flare up on December 6, when the Babri Masjid was demolished six years ago.

``No chances can be taken anywhere in the city and so we are deploying adequate security at all important spots in the city, communally sensitive areas and religious places,'' Additional Commissioner of Police C H Surendra Prasad said. Besides, the 3300-strong city police force that has been asked to be on an alert, two more companies of State Reserve Police will be deployed in different parts of the city on Sunday.
