US snubs Pak on mediation
Pakistan's aggressive diplomatic gameplan of seeking US mediation on Kashmir was rejected on Wednesday by President Bill Clinton because of India's objection to such intervention.

Nine killed as Kurla-Howrah Express derails
At least nine people, including a ticket examiner, were killed and around 50 injured, eight of them seriously when 11 coaches of the 8029 Down Kurla-Howrah express derailed near Mhasawad railway station on Thursday.

HC notice to Karnataka over Palace takeover
The Karnataka High Court on Thursday issued notice to the Karnataka Government on a petition by Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wodeyar, the scion of Mysore royal family, challenging the constitutional validity of an Act passed to take over the historic Mysore Palace.
