In a message faxed to World Class Entertainer's office in Chandigarh, SDM M.P. Arora has said that the permission which was earlier granted would be treated as cancelled on security grounds.

Earlier, the Phase-VII Police Station in charge expressed his inability to provide security for the show as additional force from the township had been sent for the tercentenary celebrations of the birth of the Khalsa at Anandpur Sahib.

The S.A.S. Nagar SP and the concerned police station have been informed about the decision. A copy of the order has been sent to PUDA and the Excise and Taxation office.

The SDM, however, clarified that a fresh application for seeking permission of holding this function can be had after the function at Anandpur Sahib was over.

Amidst the controversy over security arrrangements, Daler Mehndi, however, said that the matter had been resolved and the show would be held tomorrow. He was talking to the media persons at Hotel Sunbeam this evening.

The show is being organised to promote his new album, Tunuk tunuk tun. Daler Mehndi claimed that 10 lakh cassettes and 1 lakh CDs of his new album had already been sold. "The latest album is largely classical with only 10 per cent of the content being western pop," Daler said.

Talking about his involvement in the green drive to clean up Delhi, he said that it was successful and they would soon take up Ludhiana as it was one of the most polluted places in the country.

Mehndi accused the Punjab administration of making it difficult for him to hold the show. "We are able to hold only six shows in a year in Punjab, he said." Earlier, three persons of his troupe were injured in an accident today between Karnal and Narnaul on the Delhi-Chandigarh highway when a gypsy of his convoy collided with a truck. Daler Mehndi, however, was not involved in the accident since he was travelling in another vehicle.

Meanwhile, the District Excise and Taxation Department served two notices on the organisers of the Daler Mehndi Show. Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner Jarnail Singh told Newsline that the organisers had been asked to furnish details of the tickets sold so far.
