CM allocates portfolios to her Cabinet

NEW DELHI, December 4: In a late night announcement, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit announced the portfolios of her six Cabinet ministers and herself. While she has retained Home and Public Relations, Mahinder Singh Saathi is to be the Delhi Finance Minster, A.K. Walia the Health Minister and Parvez Hashmi Transport Minister.

And as she had promised, Dikshit has allocated the ministries so that each minister deals with similar portfolios.

The portfolios are:
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit: Minister for Administrative Reforms, GAD, Home, Law and Justice, Public Relations, Services, Vigilance, Water and all other departments not allocated to any minister.

Mahinder Singh Saathi: Minister for Finance, Planning, Revenue.

A K Walia: Minister for Urban Development, Health, Public Health and Family Welfare, Environment, Forests and Wildlife.

Krishna Tirath: Minister for Welfare of SC/STs, Social Welfare, Labour, Employment, Election.

Narender Nath: Minister for Industry, Education, Power, Tourism, Training and Technical Education and Languages.

Yoganand Shastri: Food and Civil Supplies, Development, Irrigation and Food Control.

Parvez Hashmi: Transport, Land and Buildings.

Earlier, in the Congress Legislature Party meeting held in the afternoon today, the 51 MLAs of the party passed a resolution expressing their gratitude to Sonia Gandhi for leading the Congress to victory in the elections. The resolution was moved by Dikshit.

In another resolution, the CLP thanked Sonia Gandhi for electing Dikshit as the CLP leader and for giving Delhi a balanced Cabinet.
