NEW DELHI, DEC 6: The Shiv Sena today demanded the resignation of the BJP-led coalition government if it ``backtracks its intention'' of constructing the Ram Mandir at the controversial site in Ayodhya.Sena's Delhi unit president, Jai Bhagwan Goel, and Satish Pradhan, MP, reminded the Vajpayee government that the drubbing of the BJP in the recent Assembly elections was due to its ``anti-Hindu style of functioning''.They warned that if the same policy continued, the BJP's strength in any future Lok Sabha elections would be reduced to ``two or four'' and the party would be forced to play the ``Ram card again''.
The Sena asked whether the promises and the rath yatra were only ``stunts'' by the party to garner the support of Hindu votes.
