VADODARA, Dec 6: The biannual meeting of the National Language Implementation Committee, Vadodara was held at ONGC recently. P S Rao, Executive Director, Gujarat Refinery, K G Gupta, Group General Manager, (P&A), ONGC and Sudha Srivastav, Deputy Director (co-ordination) Regional Office, Mumbai, Rajbhasha Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India attended the meeting, besides a large number of representatives of member PSUs.The scientific and technical officers of ONGC gave a detailed presentation on the various programmes undertaken to encourage the use of Hindi. The Exploration of Business Group of ONGC has brought out technical reports in Hindi on the organisation's exploratory activities.
Function held: The All-India SC/ST Employees' Welfare Association (AISCSTEWA) of ONGC, Vadodara branch, organised a function to observe the Maha Parinirvan Diwas of Dr B R Ambedkar on December 6 at the RGL, Vadodara. Jiwa Ram, officiating executive director, business groups heads, representatives of association and unions garlanded Ambedkar's statue at the RGL premises.
Camps conducted: ONGC, Mehsana Project will conduct a series of cataract eye operation camps in the forthcoming two months. This was decided after project members during medical diagnostic camps in villages found that though a large number of villagers suffering from cataract had been identified, they were unable to afford the operation and treatment expenses.
Meanwhile, District Collector M B Varia inaugurated the camp at Ambasan General Hospital on December 6. About 100 operations were carried out at this camp. Similar camps will be organised on December 13 in Gujaria village and on January 3, 1999 at Ved Mata Eye hopital. Eye camps will also be organised on January 10 at Bhagodaya Hospital, Kadi and at the Community Health Centre, Becharaji on January 24.
ONGC sponsors event: ONGC, Ankleshwar project sponsored the skating and karate events organised by the Manubhai I Patel Rotary Youth Centre, Bharuch. The Centre had organised the district-level tournament in badminton, chess, table tennis, skating, carom, billiards and karate. R R Kumar, superintending engineer (drill) was declared the Bharuch district chess champion and Pankaj Gupta, AEE (mech), Ankleshwar project won the championship in table tennis in both the single and doubles event.
