VADODARA, Dec 6: Even as talks between the Gujarat Refinery Kamdar Sangh workers and the Refinery managers are still on, the latter claimed to have made elaborate arrangements to avoid any disruption to its major operations on Tuesday, the day the workers have threatened to go on strike.An Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) release said that compensatory supplies of petroleum products -- earlier scheduled to be supplied on Tuesday - had been maintained on Sunday. About 500 road tankers were pressed into service for despatching the compensatory commodities all over the region, the release added. About the workers' demands pertaining to pay-scales, allowances and facilities, the release said that the process of settling the issues was in the final stage and had taken time as it had to be done on a national-level to maintain uniformity.
Regarding the IOC workers' demands for conveyance reimbursement, skill upgradation expenses and engagement of contract labour, the release said that they were being discussed at the management and the State labour commissionerate level. Most of the 21 workers' union of the IOC in the country had agreed on the settlements on the issues of conveyance allowances and skill expenses, the release said.
