Diamond trader duped
A diamond trader complained to the police on Sunday that two persons, posing as diamond brokers, cheated him of diamonds worth Rs 4.73 lakhs. Ashok Shah, employed at a diamond workshop located at Jadakhadi area of Mahidharpura told the police that the two accused, a father and son, whom he named as Malabhai Desai and Babubhai Desai -- from Jampaldi in Banaskantha district -- cheated him of 393.80 carats diamonds. According to the complainant, Babubhai approached him on November 20 and took the diamonds, saying that he would show them to a trader and never returned. A case under sections 406, 420 and 34 of the IPC has been registered at the Mahidharpura police station.

House-breaking
Unidentified people broke into a locked house during the early hours of Sunday and decamped with cash and gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 30,000, a case registered in the Rander police station said. Rakesh Zaveri, a resident of Giriraj Society in Rander, complained to the police that the thieves entered his house by breaking the rear door and escaped with cash of Rs 7000 and gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 23,000. The police have registered a case under sections 454 and 380 of the IPC and are investigating. No arrests have however been made.

Vehicle theft
A Hero Honda motorcycle was stolen from the Mangadh Chowk area of Varachha, a case registered in the police station said. Suresh Patel, a resident of Diamondnagar Society in Varachha, complained to the police that he had parked his vehicle (GCW 3052) in the premises of the Patel Samaj Wadi at Mangadh Chowk and returned an hour later to find it missing. The Varachha police have registered a case under IPC 379.
