According to Assistant Director, ACB K G Bhati, Parmar demanded Rs 300 from one Pradyuman Girijashankar Dikshit, who is a licenced holder for checking weights and measures, for issuing a no objection certificate. Dikshit as per his routine checking had gone to check the weights and measures of Umiya Steel at Vareli Market in Vareli village of Palsan. After checking a double platform weighing balance, he approached the Weights and Measures department to get a NOC for the dealer. When Dikshit contacted junior metallurgy inspector S B Siroya, he was told that he was absent. However, his assistant Parmar, who works as a manual assistant, stated that he would provide the certificate for Rs 300.

Dikshit then contacted the ACB office in the city and a trap was laid to nab the erring government servant. Parmar, who agreed to take the money at Umiya Steel, was nabbed red-handed accepting powdered notes from the shop owner on Sunday by a team of officials comprising PI's L J Merujay, L M Rajput and constables, besides Assistant Director Bhati.

Bhati said Parmar was also found to be misusing the signed certificates by Siroya, junior metallurgy inspector in his absence and had been sent to judicial custody. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered.
