AURANGABAD, DEC 7: Fresh investigations into the murder of Jain Muni Sampatmaharaj, who was brutally killed in his Ganeshnagar Ashram here on June 30, has lead to the detection of a new accused, Commissioner of Police Shripad Kulkarni told The Indian Expressw on Monday. The commissioner, maintained that the arrest will lead to crucial findings, but refused to say whether it would be one of the trustees of the Jain trust running the ashram or a seasoned criminal.
The police have already arrested two key trustees of the trust, Dr Champalal Desarada and Suwalal Chalani, under charges of conspiring to kill the muni, over a long standing financial dispute with him. The two, along with some others who were arrested in the case, are currently staying outside the district limits following conditional bail granted to them by the High Court.
Commissioner Kulkarni said he was confident that the charge-sheet would be filed by year-end.
